12:00 pm — 1:00 pm
Dear Allies – This webinar will introduce an important opportunity you have right now to voice your concerns about conditions in California’s juvenile halls, camps and ranches, and propose solutions to key decision makers. The process for revising California’s Title 15 and 24 regulations — the minimum standards for the roughly 124 county lock-ups for youth — is just getting started. This webinar will explain the importance of the Title 15 and 24 regulations and their long-term impacts on California’s incarcerated youth. We will also talk about the upcoming revision process and how to get involved, and provide guidance on the online survey recently released by the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) (due Jan. 20) that asks for recommendations from community members. In addition to the BSCC’s online survey, please see our alternative short, youth-friendly survey for young people (due Jan. 17), and their family members, who have had direct experience in a juvenile facility. Confidential responses to this survey will be summarized and sent to the BSCC on behalf of a number of directly impacted youth and families.
